The new BTM was released a couple of days ago and has a couple of articles by yours truly. One of them The Pearl of Our Past, can now be read online on the magazine’s website.

 

The article is basically a result of the research I’ve carried out about pearl diving in Bahrain in the early twenties for the yet-to-be-completed short story, Jalboot. I was hoping that I could come up with some sort of tribute to the craft and to the men of the craft with this piece.

 

I hope you enjoy it and I hope it will give you an insight into the world of pearl divers.

 

Meanwhile, no more progress has been recorded on the writing front these past few days. Work is taking most of my time and by the time I get back home I’m too knackered to focus on writing.

 

Jalboot sounds like an excellent story in the making! I'm a firm supporter of keeping Bahraini traditions alive by any artistic mean: let it be literary or film, these are stories that are hundreds of years old that need to be preserved, and kept alive... I love reading traditional Bahraini stories, it gives me an insight of the ways that I was never old enough to witness growing up...

Again, thank you for your kind words Diya. Good to hear that you're a supporter of heritage and traditional folktales. Jalboot is shapping up well, though as to when you'll see it that's too early to say.

Once the story is completed it will have to go through proofreading, editing and such. And finding the right platform to publish it on won't be that easy too!
